Rich’s Ordination Service May 22, 2011

I wanted to share with you the audio recording of my Ordination Service which was held at Christian Life Church in Mt. Prospect, IL, on Sunday, May 22, 2011.  Daryl Merrill Jr., Senior Pastor at Christian Life, presided over the service and was my sponsor in my ordination. There were over 100 people in attendance and it was an amazing evening in which the spirit was present in abundance. I am so thankful for all the support and encouragement I have received.  I trust that you too will be blessed through sharing in the service. Thanks for caring! The link is printed at the end of the blog. Enjoy!

I have included my bio which was printed in the bulletin:

Rich grew up in Orinda, California, an eastern suburb of San Francisco. His mother was a founding member of the Orinda Community Church, which Rich attended as a child. He made a personal profession of faith in Christ in high school through the influence of Young Life. Rich studied history at the University of California at Berkeley and was an active leader in Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC.) He met his wife, Sue, through the ministry of CCC and they served on staff with CCC for seven years. Rich and Sue first worked at Oregon State and then was the Campus Director of CCC at Northwestern.

While at Northwestern, Rich experienced a growing passion for helping those he met and worked with who had been hurt through the influence of childhood trauma and abuse. Eventually, this longing led him to leave CCC and pursue his M.A. in psychology and counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS.) He graduated in 1987 and worked for four years at a Christian counseling center founded by several of the faculty at TEDS. In 1991, he began his own counseling practice in Northbrook, IL, called the Center for Christian Life Enrichment (CLE.) CLE is a dynamic faith based community dedicated to manifesting the love of God and empowering individuals to multiply their talents in the service of living the most magnificent lives possible.

Rich has been an active member of several different churches throughout his adult life. He was a leader, teacher, and elder at the Winnetka Bible Church for twenty years. He was then a founding member, elder and teaching pastor at Christ Community Church of Northfield (CCCN). He was part of the leadership team from CCCN who partnered with Willow Creek Community Church to birth the North Shore regional campus in 2003.

Rich and his wife, Sue, have been married 33 years and have two grown children and two grandchildren.
